15th Annual Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup
The Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup is done for another year. This year’s event marks its 15th year.
We had a total of 22 instructors teaching numerous workshops over the 4 days of carving. There was a total of 217 woodcarvers in attendance, coming from 14 states and 2 Canadian provinces.
It was exciting that there were 19 people signed up for the Beginner carving class. This kept our Beginner instructor Arland Zeiler busy. There were also many other new faces in attendance taking classes and experiencing a woodcarvers roundup for the first time.
Monday night was set aside for mini workshops. There were sessions on carving, painting and non-carving activities. Tuesday night was the ice cream social and the ever-popular show and tell. Back by request was the Trade Blanket on Wednesday night. This event offered participants an opportunity to trade items. Led by Floyd Rhadigan the evening was a night of entertainment and is sure to return next year.
I would like to thank all the instructors for their time and commitment, without them this event would not be possible. Thanks also goes out to the members of the Cherry Ridge Carvers for their help with the different aspects of the Roundup. A big thank you to our hosts, Cherry Ridge Campsites. I can’t forget Jim O’Dea, thanks for all the help with the website and promoting the event.
Too all of you, Thank you.
Mark your calendars for next year’s Northeast Woodcarver Roundup, July 15 to 19, 2018.
We still have one more event, the Fall Carve In. It is scheduled for September 22nd to the 24th. Starting at Noon on the 22nd. The Fall Carve In offers some of the same instructors and classes as the Roundup. If you’re interested in teaching please let me know.
Keep your tools sharp and I’ll see you at the next carving event.
