History of the Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup
The Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup started in 2003 after a few people, George and Ann Reinfried, from LancasterPA and Jack Miller from HanoverPA, attended the Evart MI Woodcarvers Roundup. After talking to several of their fellow woodcarvers they thought that this was something they would like to try somewhere in the East. The Reinfried’s had friends who owned a campground, so they made the pitch to the Waiter family and the first Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup was held at Cherry Ridge Campsites, near Honesdale PA.
Since that year was such a success they decided to hold the event the next year and the year after that. Realizing all the work required, Ann and George convinced some local woodcarvers to form a club, so within a year of the first Roundup Cherry Ridge Carvers was born. Within a couple of years the reigns for the Roundup were turned over to the Club.
The Northeast Woodcarvers Roundup has continued to grow. We can thank a couple from Lancaster and their friend Jack Miller, who had the courage and will to start this event and help our fellow woodcarvers learn and promote the art of carving.
